Tangential Parenting: In Sickness and in Naps

It’s our first episode!

It might actually be our true first episode, as we’ve recorded more than the two we’ve released so far. Rachel, of Starship Suburbia, is hard at work editing the other ones, and we have high hopes we can get a couple more recorded during the holiday break. Because of that, we may make mention of events or dates that were nearly a month ago. As I said earlier, it was a lot of work to get to this point. But now that the infrastructure is in place, it should be easier to put episodes out on a regular basis.

In Sickness and in Naps

Kids get sick. That’s a shock to hear, we’re sure. But in addition to that, they carry in all sorts of plagues into the home that your immune system has no idea how to handle. Between the various childhood ailments, stomach viruses, and everything else, there’s a good chance someone is suffering. We discuss ways to get around some of this, handling getting sick yourself, and learning how to call in reinforcements.

Sickness also causes problems with sleep. But even when healthy, kids sometimes struggle to get enough rest. We discuss the merits of naps and how to get toddlers to keep taking them once the crib becomes a bed. Bedtime is also talked about, though it hasn’t been too much trouble yet. Rachel also talks about her experiences with her daughter, and tries to cheer me up.
